Styled Shoot: Idyllic Gardens at the Crossed Keys Estate Farmhouse

Crossed Keys Estate Floral

It’s no secret that Crossed Keys Estate is a special place to me. It’s a home away from home as I spend a lot of weekends doing makeup for gorgeous girls in the bridal suite known as the Playhouse. It’s also where my husband & I tied the knot in 2019. So when I say I think the grounds there are magical.. I truly mean it. The #secretgardenvibes at Crossed Keys Estate are no joke.. Romantic, whimsical, & just the right bit of moody to have you feeling all the feels. With this photoshoot, we had an incredible team come together to really amplify all of those exact things.

Wander Atelier helped dress our model, Jennifer Sanchez, perfectly in an enchanting, romantic gown. Julie of Styles on Location carefully exaggerated Jennifer’s natural curls. And I think we can agree that Crossed Keys Designs truly outdid themselves because these florals are totally OUT of this world. NKB Photo photographed the day, making sure to highlight each detail & tiny moment in a way only she can do. I literally will never stop sharing these photos. That’s a promise! And now..  I TRULY can’t wait to see what special memories it creates for all of the future couples who will light up it’s rooms!

The makeup look for this shoot needed to feel earthy & natural as the backdrops were organic & whimsical. On top of this, my goal is always to accentuate the Bride (in this case, model!) in a way that feels real & true. I believe makeup should be breathable & comfortable. On a wedding day when there are so many things to keep in mind, preserving your makeup shouldn’t be one of them! That’s my job! So the makeup is in no way mask-like but simply elevates & defines all the right features. Our model, Jennifer, has gorgeous golden skin so it was a no-brainer that I wanted to find all the ways to really make her glow! NKB Photo captured this perfectly.. especially in the magical field of wildflowers (some of my favorite shots!)

Fun fact: This shoot started with an idea I had to glue real flowers on the model’s face. I know what you’re thinking.. But I promise it was going to be cool & I’ll get to it one day so hold that thought for now. My point of telling you this is that one silly thought, one creative idea really snowballed into something so incredible. I nurtured my creative thought, trusted those I asked to help me bring it to life, & look at the absolutely magical end result. I could never have imagined my idea to blossom into something so extraordinary. So, remember no idea is too weird, too small, too silly, too crazy.. Keep creating!
