6 Reasons to Show Up on Social Media: Especially if You're a Business Owner!

Social media platforms have taken over the internet in the past few years and become major search engines for all of us. With lots of options like Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook, and more, it can be overwhelming and sometimes a turn off to add one more thing to your to-do list as a business owner. But let’s chat about why it’s CRUCIAL, as a brand or biz owner, you should be regularly showing up on social media…

01. Brand Awareness

It’s very rare these days that I’m handing out business cards, because 9 out of 10 times I’m being asked for my IG handle instead. So what can this new follower see when they get there? With a good profile & consistent content, any social media platform should give them a quick snapshot of your business, your work and your vibe. Stay visible & top of mind by posting regularly. From here, they may use your services or they can easily refer you to a friend/family.

02. Traffic/Search Results (SEO)

Did you know that social media platforms can be included in Google Search results? So make sure you’re sharing consistent content because it may just pop up when a potential client is searching for those key words of what you have to offer.

03. Brand Loyalty

Make sure to nurture your existing followers and not just extend reach for new ones. This could be by posting new content you know your currently followers will love, sharing announcements with them, hosting giveaways, etc. This marketing technique could certainly help you reach a new audience as well so really, it’s a win/win!

It’s also a great idea to cross-post content, if done in the proper way. For example, sharing that you have a new blog post to your IG following is a great way to reuse content you already built and share it with an audience that might not have seen it yet.

04. Education

I love using my social media platforms to deliver helpful information and education to my clients. Maybe this means answering FAQs or just providing some helpful tips! It never hurts to repeat yourself too for the important stuff.

05. Inspiration

This will look different depending on your particular business, but maybe you want to post your own work, fresh inspo, or a combo of both. Think about what would inspire your audience and what may align with what your brand offers/believes in and share that!

*Side note: Make sure to CREDIT any artist’s work that you use as inspiration.

06. It’s FREE!

So, it’s a no brainer right?! Social media platforms are a completely free way of marketing your business and they are very often one of the top ways people scope businesses out. So you want to make sure your presence is known in the social media world with a profile that is well thought out and active.
