Top Tips to Banish Dull Winter Skin

Nothing is worse than the winter blues. Except maybe dull winter skin. Bleh! The winter season can be absolutely magical, but it can wreak havoc on your skin. From dry patchy spots to redness and general irritation, the slew of issues that come with frigid temperatures can be frustrating.

If you want to banish dull winter skin for good, keep on reading! These are my top tips for keeping your skin winter averse.

Hydrate

Drink water, then drink some more! Create a routine to be sure you’re drinking your daily intake, buy a cute bottle (my favorites are linked below) that will measure it out for you & be sure to drink it all! This will be helpful to your skin & your body… Inside & out :)

Skincare

Don’t be afraid to change your skincare routine with the change of seasons. This might mean a heavier moisturizer, hydrating serum, oils, eye cream… be sure to use these consistently for real results! Remember your skin is more fragile when it’s dry, especially if it’s cracked or peeling. If you use any kind of scrub/exfoliant, be careful to not over-exfoliate, as it will be harder for your skin to recover. Here are some of my favorite hydrating products for the winter season:

Lip Care

Chapped lips are common in the winter. You might also get dry cracking around your nostrils from the weather or too much nose-blowing during flu season!

Although it’s common to reach straight for the chapstick, Aquaphor Healing Ointment is actually my secret weapon. I often call this the ultimate beauty product! It’s also great for tackling dry hands, elbows, feet, & even minor scrapes and burns.

Humidifier

The cold, dry air can be damaging to the skin but also, the hot, dry air in your home, work, or car can be just as harmful. The transition in temperature in itself is tough on skin. A humidifier in your room at night can help keep moisture in the air & your skin.

Personally, I also find this helps me breathe better during sleep!

Hand care

Think in layers! A protective layer is ideal, so my first tip is: don’t forget your gloves! But if you do…Make sure to hydrate your hands double time in this weather!

My hands take a beating year-round from constant washing and hand sanitizing. So I found this amazing product years ago and swear by the overnight results it provides.

I hope these tips help you kick your dull winter skin to the curb! As long as you keep your body and skin hydrated, you’ll be well on your way to glowy, dewy skin again in no time. And don’t worry, the end is in sight and spring is coming!
