DIY Facial & Lip Scrubs
Whether you’re stuck at home or you’re in need of a little extra self-care these days, I thought I’d share TWO of my favorite DIY scrub recipes that you can make at home in order to give your skin the TLC it deserves! Treat yourself to some at-home aromatherapy by adding in some essential oils! These scrubs are all easily made with items you have in your pantry and the cherry on top? They’re clean & cruelty free!
DIY Facial Sugar Scrub
Ingredients
1/2 cup coconut oil, Alternative: Grapeseed Oil
¼-1/2 cup brown sugar or white sugar
Brown sugar will be more gentle while white sugar tends to be more exfoliating.
1 tablespoon of honey
Essential oil of your choice! (Young Living or Doterra recommended)
Directions:
Add ¼ cup sugar & 1 tablespoon honey in a bowl.
Microwave coconut oil for 20 seconds, add on time as needed until melted! Mix well with sugar & honey
*Optional: Add additional sugar if you feel your mixture is too runny.
Add your choice of essential oil (lavender is my favorite of course!). I use only a few drops but you can add more or less to your liking.
Store in an airtight container (I love using a mason jar). Avoid molding by keeping your scrub in the fridge!
How to use:
Cleanse your face & dry
Apply scrub to the skin, use circular motion to rub onto the skin
I like to simply pat my skin dry after the scrub & add on my usual moisturizer or oils for extra TLC!
DIY Gentle Lip Scrub
Ingredients:
1/4 tsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp honey
1/4 tsp coconut oil
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Voila!
How to use:
Apply to clean dry lips
Rub in small circular motion
Rinse & apply lip conditioner as needed!
If you want to skip the work, but still want some extra skin care.. Here are some of my absolute favorite store-bought scrubs you can check out. They all come highly recommended!
