Honoring your Creative Heart

An SLxNKB Creative Collaboration

CREATE MORE. Two words. Easy to say, but sometimes difficult to do. In a world driven by “hustle culture,” we’re constantly working, staying busy, and rarely stopping to breathe & honor our creative hearts. Cue the creative burnout.

This burnout can be deadly in a creative career. And let’s be honest, it eliminates the real reason we started a career in the arts in the first place… to genuinely & uniquely create more. And let me back up and say, this isn’t just for creatives! This affects all careers and all people. It even trickles down to everyday life, personal style, & expression. Instead of taking risks, it’s easier (& quicker) to stick to our normal, comfortable routine and keep moving.

So today, let me challenge you with this… take time to honor your creative soul. Do something that stimulates and inspires you. Do something that makes you feel out of this world, over the moon, floating among stars. This looks completely different to everyone so it’s okay if it’s something as simple as a guided meditation or a living room dance party! The goal of this, whatever it looks like for you, is to simply block out the “noise” & reconnect to yourself.

This creative shoot I’m sharing below is exactly that. My talented friend & photographer, Nicole, of NKB Photo, and myself collaborated on this project together in order to take a breather from “work” and create something from each of our creative hearts. What a better story for that than one that includes playing dress up with glitter as the main accessory. As you scroll through these beautiful images I hope they inspire you to… Stop. Take a break. Breathe. And create.
